Watch the full session

Het breaks down why platform attribution measures correlation instead of causation, how to triangulate the real number across four methodologies, and how to turn an incrementality factor into a bid you can actually run.

A Practitioner's Guide to Paid Search Incrementality

The written guide behind the session — four measurement methodologies, the full DTC results table, the calibration math, and where incrementality fits alongside MTA and MMM.

What's inside

  • Incrementality factor and iCPA, with real numbers

  • Four methodologies — and where each misleads you

  • Why brand and non-brand search tell completely different stories

  • How to turn an incrementality number into a target CPA

  • A testing cadence so your number never goes stale

Inside the guide

What the data actually showed

01Attribution shows the touch, not the cause. Different questions, different instruments.
02True incremental CPA: ~68% higher than the dashboard. That's scaling vs. burning.
03Non-brand search: 59% incremental. Brand: 19% — most of it was happening anyway.
04Bids cut 40% → incrementality fell ~48% to ~23%. Cheaper CPA, fewer caused conversions.
05Four methodologies, one direction. The disagreements were signal too.
